I choose to go to George Fox University to study chemistry because of the opportunity to work directly with my professors. The smaller class sizes have allowed me to connect with all my professors and to conduct research with them.

After graduation, I am going to attend grad school to achieve a PhD in organic chemistry.

As a first-generation college student, I have had to do a lot of thinking on how to budget for future semesters. This scholarship has eased that burden and allowed me to focus more on my studies. I am planning to apply to a graduate chemistry program. I have yet to choose where, but the University of Oregon is a school that is especially interesting to me.

I have lived for most of my life in Keizer, Oregon. Willamette is also a school that I am very familiar with. These factors led me to choose Willamette to have an easier transition from high school to college. In high school, I was always interested in the sciences. Chemistry was especially appealing because I was able to grasp the concepts quickly. I wanted to try higher-level chemistry courses to improve my knowledge and to understand more about the world.

This scholarship grants me the opportunity to be more confident, immersive, and dedicated to my studies as it alleviates a significant financial and mental burden from my life. For this, I am grateful. The scholarship grants a newfound exuberance as I am assured that there is help and cooperation for students to continue to pursue education to make a difference in our world. I chose the George fox University chemistry program for the ability to grow a personal relationship with my professors and peers and have a more engaged experience that I could not get elsewhere. Chemistry has given me a way that I can help my generation make an impact on the world and commit myself to the betterment of people's lives.

After graduation, I plan to pursue a PhD in nuclear chemistry and pursue a career in nuclear fission and energy.

I chose Willamette University because of its rigorous courses allowing me to challenge myself and my thinking. I chose to become a chemistry major because it is an amazing start to push me into pharmacy school after my undergrad. I chose a women and gender studies minor because I would love to continue my understanding of the oppression of women.

Continue my studies at OSU graduate school of pharmacy for two years and then attend OHSU for a year of practice before I can become an official practicing pharmacist.

This scholarship was meaningful because it provided me with funds that I needed for things outside of tuition, the smaller necessities such as pens, books, paper, and transportation for the semester. The goal after graduation is to attend medical school, although graduate school is also another great option.
