Ten Reed College Students Selected to Pursue Projects Overseas

Reed College’s Center for Life Beyond Reed has named ten recipients of its Fellowship for Winter International Travel (FWIT) for 2018.

The FWIT offers Reed students a chance to pursue a passion, professional development experience, or service opportunity abroad.  The Fellowship recipients receive up to $3,000 each for a project that complements their studies and is of their own design.  The projects are completed over approximately three weeks during Reed’s winter break.

The 2018 FWIT projects include an investigation of the cultural meaning of a West African dance pop genre, a survey of Peruvian food and architecture as a means of understanding multiracial identity, and an exploration of how forms of light are prioritized in the two northernmost cities in the world.
