This scholarship was a pleasant surprise and helped me reduce the amount of private loan debt taken out for this term. It is a relief! It's also nice knowing there are people and businesses out there thinking of students as we navigate freshman year. Thank you!
Why did you choose your college and major?
I want to be a part of the technology field to learn relevant skills in our evolving world. There will be a need for cybersecurity across every system we use. I also want to be a role model for more students to get into STEM careers!
After graduation, I plan to…
Travel and find ways to volunteer with organizations supporting communities of color by providing STEM opportunities and college scholarships.

Why was this scholarship meaningful to you?
Attending college is a way for me to ensure that I don't have to go through the financial hardships my family went through when I was growing up. what I went through growing up. Being a first-generation student, I was unaware of how everything works in college, and simply put, what I should do to enroll and pay for my degree. I applied for too many loans, which will cause me financial distress after I graduate. Being awarded this scholarship helps me so much more than words can say. Thank you and I appreciate all the help you have given me!
Why did you choose your college and major?
I chose University of Portland because I received a great financial aid package and I wanted to go to a school that challenged me academically. I chose business as my major because I want to create businesses with empathy, unlike many big corporations.
After graduation, I plan to…
I plan to save money by moving back home to ease paying off my loans. I plan to work wherever I can at first just to gain experience, then I want to venture out and work in the silicon valley.

Major: Accounting
Class Standing: Sophomore
Why was this scholarship meaningful to you?
This scholarship is meaningful to me because higher education is pricey. My family has a limited income, and I am one of two kids going to college in the same year. It’s very expensive! I am extremely grateful for any help we can receive. Thank you very much!
After graduation, I plan to…
stay with the firm I will intern with and grow my skills in every area possible. On the side, my parents have been patiently waiting a very long time for me to be able to do their taxes.
Why did you choose your college and major?
I heard about Corban University through a friend from church that said he was planning to attend after high school. My brother was going to do the same major as our friend, so I investigated their accounting program to see if I could transfer. I chose accounting in the first place because our friend's dad inspired me to follow an accounting major.

Coming from a low-income family, this scholarship is extremely meaningful. I want to make my parents proud and help repay them for everything they have done for me. This allows me to be able to focus more on my studies since I am playing soccer, doing school, and working to pay for tuition. Thank you!
Why did you choose your college and major?
I chose Bushnell University because it seemed like a place where I would feel connected to the community like a family, and I would have the opportunity to continue playing football. I've always had such a love for the game, and studying business and sports management will help me stay connected to it for years to come.
After graduation, I plan to…
I plan to become a coach or be involved in the football industry to help athletes progress and fulfill their goals.

Why did you choose your college and major?
I chose Linfield University because of the strong academics and location. McMinnville is a small, safe community and there's many things to do around town. I’m also part of the men’s soccer team at Linfield. I chose to double major in computer science and applied physics because I want to be a software engineer.

Major: Quantitative Economics
Minor: Math, Chemistry
Class Standing: Sophomore
Pronouns: He/Him
Why was this scholarship meaningful to you?
I probably wouldn't have been able to go to Reed if it were not for the financial aid package I was offered. Attending this institution has opened up a multitude of both academic and professional opportunities for me and has generally been epistemologically gratifying. Thank you for facilitating and contributing to this experience—I greatly appreciate it!
Why did you choose your college and major?
I chose Reed because I liked its strong sense of community, low student to faculty ratio, and academic rigor. I chose quantitative economics because I am interested in examining the way in which systems built upon and around capital interact with one another, which I believe is central to the logic or broader conceptual mechanisms underlying much of modern society at large.
After graduation, I plan to…
either go directly to law school, or work for a year or two (whether it be at an investment firm, a hedge fund, a policy institute, a management consultancy, etc.) then go to graduate school for economics. I'm leaning towards the latter at present moment.
