Logan Billy
Hometown and State: Medford, OR
College or University Name: Warner Pacific University
Major: Biological science
Class Standing: Senior
Pronouns: She/Her
This scholarship is meaningful to me because being a student athlete I have a very busy schedule that can make it difficult to find a good paying job that fits the few available hours I have in my day. The scholarship allows me to be able to pursue an education in the program that I enjoy! Thank you! This allows me to continue learning, meeting new people, and giving back to my community.
After graduation, I plan to…
I plan to pursue a career as a dental hygienist. This job suits me well as I have never been afraid to go to the dentist and I’m a people person. My personality could help make patients less scared and more comfortable.
Why did you choose your college and major?
Warner Pacific is a very warm, welcoming school and has a soccer program. I chose my biological science major to help me on my path toward becoming a dental hygienist. Something about being able to help people stay educated on how to care for their mouths, as well as helping patients get that extra bit of confidence, drew me to dentistry!
Madison Clark
Hometown and State: Grants Pass, OR
School or University Name: Bushnell University
Major: Accounting
Minor: Business Administration
Class standing: Senior
Why was this scholarship meaningful to you?
This scholarship has helped alleviate some of the financial pressures that I am under as a university student paying for school out of pocket, making my academic goals more accessible and affordable. I am extremely grateful for the help and assistance that this scholarship has awarded me, as it means I can enjoy my time in college and worry less about finances. Thank you to all the donors who have made this scholarship accessible to me and other college students.
After graduation, I plan to…
After I graduate in May of 2023, I plan to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). I currently have multiple internships lined up in the accounting field, so I am going to try to find which department is the best fit for me.
Why did you choose your college and major?
I chose to major in accounting because it combined two of my favorite things: math and numbers. I enrolled in college at the age of 16, so I had to think about what I wanted to study very early on. I love everything about my degree and the doors that it has opened for me. I chose to attend Bushnell University because, after visiting the campus, it felt like somewhere I could call home. Being on a small campus was very important to me because I strongly value relationships and community. Additionally, as a homeschooler, I wanted my class sizes to be smaller.
Kaya Cowles

Go to graduate school and study occupational therapy. After that, I hope to work within a school district as an OT post-graduate school.
Why did you choose your college and major?
I chose to go to Pacific University because I liked the welcoming campus, and it has a great occupational therapy program. While in high school, I found an interest in psychology and really enjoyed learning about it. In addition, my requirements for my degree align well with requirements for occupational therapy in graduate school.

Being at this school is helping me learn how to have purposeful interactions with the people around me and how to make a difference in my future career.
Kai Larson
Hometown and State: Ashland, OR
College or University Name: Lewis & Clark College
Major: Biology
Class Standing: Sophomore
Pronouns: He/Him
Why was this scholarship meaningful to you?
Thank you to The Carpenter Foundation for their generous contribution towards my education. Though I am certainly not independent of any support from my family, being a student means I have a very limited amount of time to earn money for school and the costs of living. The support provided by this scholarship has given me greater freedom to enjoy my time at Lewis & Clark. This year, I hope to have enough time to go backcountry skiing on Mt Hood during my winter break.
After graduation, I plan to…
I'm considering either continuing my career with the Forest Service working as a wildland firefighter somewhere in the West or in a position as a researcher, hopefully on a project with results meaningful to conservation.
Why did you choose your college and major?
I chose Lewis & Clark partially based on them doing the most to meet my financial needs, which showed me their willingness to uplift students of all backgrounds. I declared my major early, in my first year at school. My confidence in declaring came from knowing I wanted to study something that would give me the knowledge and opportunity to help conserve and protect Oregon's wild ecosystems that have so generously provided me with recreation, employment, and clean water and air all my life.

Molly Robertson

Why did you choose your college and major?
I chose to major in psychology because I want to help people on a personal level. During high school, I was given the opportunity to partake in a mission trip where we served at a special needs orphanage. This experience is what influenced my decision to major in psychology, because I realized I wanted to work with kids and expand my knowledge on autism.
Why was this scholarship meaningful to you?
I want to personally thank you for choosing me to be a recipient of the Carpenter Foundation Scholarship. I am thankful for your generous support of my education. I am funding college independently, therefore any support is greatly appreciated. Your support is enabling me to continue my education!
After graduation, I plan to…
After graduation, I hope to pursue a career as a child life specialist. I originally wanted to work with kids who are special needs, but I also found interest in helping kids going through trauma. However, I am only a sophomore in college and am open to learning about the many different branches psychology has to offer.
