My ambition is to pursue a career in dentistry by enrolling in dental school and earning my Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree. This advanced education will equip me with the specialized knowledge and clinical skills necessary to excel in the field. My ultimate goal is to establish my own dental practice, where I can provide high-quality, patient-centered care to my community. By running my own practice, I aim to create a welcoming environment that emphasizes preventive care, innovative treatments, and personalized attention to improve patients’ oral health and overall well-being. This path reflects my passion for combining scientific expertise with meaningful patient interactions to make a lasting impact in the field of dentistry.

Why was this scholarship meaningful to you?
I find this scholarship important to help bring awareness of the affordability of private colleges. I come from a very low income family, and would have never thought to be at a private college. It’s scholarships like these that make these opportunities for people of my socioeconomic status to achieve higher education a reality as a first generation college student. Thank you!
Why did you choose your college and major?
George Fox is very well known for its health science and has an amazing Biology and Biochem program. Smaller class size allows for more hands-on learning and interaction between students and faculty. Equipment is also not scarce, and is also well maintained. Students even at the freshmen level are constantly being engaged in research and lab assignments. Most colleges wouldn’t allow lower classmen to engage in the lab to the degree that George Fox allows. This produces a very competitive and competent grad student. George Fox also has an amazing VA department that I’ve never found issues with. As a veteran it is hard to navigate your benefits sometimes without help, but the administrative team that George Fox has made it very easy.
After graduation, I plan to…
I plan to go to Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, or whatever medical school accepts my application to become an Emergency Medical Physician.

Why was this scholarship meaningful to you?
Financing college has grown increasingly more stressful as the years have gone on, but my desire and passion for learning has also only grown stronger. I am so thankful for the Lonza Bend Inc. scholarship for allowing me to focus on academics and not the stress of paying for it.
Why did you choose your college and major?
I chose Willamette because it offered me a change of scenery from my hometown and previous education experiences. The chemistry and biology professors at Willamette are the most dedicated, personable people who are truly committed to each student individually. I love learning about things in their most simple form, and that’s exactly what chemistry and biology allow me to do.
After graduation, I plan to…
After I graduate I plan to work for a year or two to gain both experience and money in hopes to pursue physician’s assistant school.

Why was this scholarship meaningful to you?
This scholarship is meaningful to me because it is allowing me to focus more on my school work. Typically, during the school year I spend a lot of time working outside of classes to pay for my tuition. This scholarship has relieved some of that stress and allowed me to spend more time working on my thesis and other school work.
Why did you choose your college and major?
I chose Willamette because of the campus community. When I toured the school, I felt accepted and that I could be myself without worrying what other people thought. I also really wanted small class sizes so I could be more connected with my professors and know that I could always get extra help if needed. Initially, I was planning on being a math major and pursuing a law degree after. However, I took a general chemistry course from Prof. Alison Fisher and immediately knew that was what I wanted to do. I declared in chemistry after I finished that course and have been very happy with my choice.
After graduation, I plan to…
I plan to take a gap year and work in a lab, ideally that focuses on environmental or nuclear chemistry. I hope to get accepted into a national lab. After this gap year, I plan to pursue a PhD in chemistry.
