Why was this scholarship meaningful to you?

Being awarded this scholarship has aided in my ability to afford my undergraduate degree at such a great institution, which just so happens to be my dream university. This is incredibly meaningful to me since this has been my dream since the fourth grade, with my only worry with attending here being the ability to afford college as a whole. My dream career involves a second four-year degree, so I am incredibly grateful for every bit of help I have received in this first step, which will ultimately aid in the future steps as well. So thank you for your support! It means so much to me and the rest of my family as well.

Why did you choose your college and major?

I have known since kindergarten that I wanted to be a doctor. In the fourth grade, I decided that I wanted to attend a smaller, private, Christian university with a great pre-medicine program, and Fox is just that! It felt like the right choice from the get-go, and when I visited the campus for the first time during my freshman year of college, it all clicked and I knew it was the best choice for me. I decided to major in Biochemistry because of my love for science, and it also had most of the classes I would need for medical school and taking the MCAT exam. I added the Psychology major during the second term of my freshman year after taking a general psychology course (a medical school prerequisite) and feeling so beyond interested in all of the concepts I was learning. I decided to make my concentration for Psychology in neuroscience because I was already taking
the classes for it with my Biochemistry degree, and also it was the most medicine-centered concentration.

After graduation, I plan to…

After graduation, I plan to attend medical school and eventually become a pediatrician. My ultimate goal is to open a private practice with my mom, who is an FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner) and my step-father, who is a PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant) and ATC (Certified Athletic Trainer), so we can essentially be a “one-stop-shop” for family health care, focusing on rehabilitative and naturopathic medicine for our patients.

Why was this scholarship meaningful to you?

This scholarship will allow me to continue my education here at George Fox University and pursue higher education post-university. Being a first-generation student, this has been a major adjustment and rather difficult to navigate. I cannot thank you enough for your generosity and kindness regarding this scholarship and the plethora of opportunities this opens me up to.

Why did you choose your college and major?

I was looking for a place where I could continuously feel God's presence and grow to better understand myself. I initially started off in Psychology but found out my favorite realm of Psychology was within the biological portions of my education, so I decided to add Biology so I could have a soft science as well as a hard science. I know I want to help people — that is all I have ever wanted to do.

After graduation, I plan to…

After graduation, I plan to pursue higher education with either a Master's in Biology or a PA program.

College or University Name: Willamette University
Major: Biochemistry
Class standing: Junior
Pronouns: she/her

Why was this scholarship meaningful to you?

I am beyond grateful to be a recipient chosen for this scholarship. As a student athlete who works two jobs, finances have been the most stressful part of my college journey thus far. This aid will help me to continue to pursue my eduction as a Biochemistry major aspiring to do medical research in the future. I would like to thank the Alliance and Lonza Pharma for this financial aid award. Mahalo palena 'ole.

Why did you choose your college and major?

My decision to choose Willamette University ultimately came from my experience with the A2E program and my desire to continue running Track & Field at the collegiate level. As for my major, I have always had a particular interest in chemistry since my freshman year of high school. Once I completed my first year at the university and met the majority of the chemistry professors, I knew that I would find a good education in the chemistry department. This led me to declare my major in the fall semester of my sophomore year.

After graduation, I plan to…

At the moment, I plan to go to grad school for organic chemistry or biochemistry, but no plans are set as of right now.
